Quartz
Quartz is one of the most important minerals on Earth which is widely available not only himself, but also as part of other minerals. Chemical symbol of quartz is SiO2 (silicon dioxide). Quartz crystals are formed as such mostly hexagonal and form many interesting varieties.
Colour:
- typical example is quartz grain of sand
- clear to translucent, due to the presence of other elements, various coloring
- translucent to transparent
- often inclusions of other minerals
Occurrence:
- One of the most common minerals in the world
Quartz gallery
Quartz in its natural form. Quartz consists of hexagonal crystals, which are clustered in the so-called drusen. Such a cluster of quartz comes from Madagascar and notice the diversity of the larger and smaller crystals.
Quartz as a matter often grow other minerals, some even appear separately, but only as part of other minerals. Like this reddish rutile, which grows crystal quartz and fine crystals resemble needles.
